HOLIDAY OUTREACH PROJECTS:

Neighborhood Alliance Adopt-a-Family Care Baskets

Remove a tag from the cardboard tree in the education building hallway, which contains selected cleaning and personal care items for families served by Neighborhood Alliance.

Purchase a large basket or storage tub, and shop for items from the list to add to your basket.

Wrap and leave the filled baskets beneath the cardboard tree by Sunday, December 3.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

Sign up in the narthex for a 1-hour shift to ring the Salvation Army kettle bell at the Midway Mall Giant Eagle.

Our assigned day is Saturday, December 9, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Cleveland Christian Home Christmas Wish List

A list of suggested gift ideas for the children and families of the Cleveland Christian Home is posted in the hall of the education building.

Gifts should NOT be wrapped, and price tags should remain affixed to the gifts. (Please--no dolls, stuffed animals or toys contrary to the idea of peacemaking.)

Gifts should be left in the box in the education building hall by Sunday, December 10.

Disciples Mission Fund All-Church Christmas Card

You can support this special offering which will benefit the work of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ohio.

by calculating the amount of money you might spend on cards and postage to your friends in this congregation.

Then, instead of sending those cards, sign WACC's all-church card and donate those savings to the Special Day Christmas Offering.

You may donate by placing cash or checks (payable to "WACC" with "Christmas" written on the memo line) in the box below the card,

by using the specially-marked envelope in your personalized packet of offering envelopes,

or by using the specially-marked envelope found in the pew.

All gifts for this offering must be received in the church office, or postmarked, by December 31.

Elyria Hospitality Center Pajamas Collection

Please bring to our December 31 Church School Pajama Party (9:30 a.m.) one or more pair of new pajamas for children and adults in need.

Church World Service's Blankets/Tools of Hope Offering

You can support this special offering which provides warm blankets to refugees and those in need following displacement from their homes due to natural disasters or human action.

This offering also supports the purchase of rebuilding tools for communities in need of repair from disasters both natural and human-created.

You may donate by placing cash or checks (payable to "WACC" with "Blankets/Tools" written on the memo line) and enclosing your gift into a specially-marked envelope found in the pew or in the December 19 issue of, The Spire.

All gifts for this offering must be received in the church office, or postmarked, by December 31.

Elyria Hospitality Center Food Collection

Donations are accepted each Sunday in the shopping cart in the hallway of the new building, with different collection emphases each month (November's is pasta and sauce).

All non-perishable food is welcome, and appreciated. Donations (and plastic bags) may be left in the baskets beneath the cross in the education building hallway.
This is an ongoing collection with no set deadline.

Cleveland Christian Home Children's Change "Change"ing Lives

Please deposit your change (or more) into the jar in the red wagon, located in the hall of the education building.

Chancel Flower Order Information

Contact the church office or use the sign-up sheet posted on the main bulletin board, outside the office workroom, to place your order.

Basic orders are $20 each. Please make your check payable to "Botamer Florist" and direct it to the church office so we may pay each month's invoice promptly.

Special orders (a wider variety of flowers, at increased cost) are available if desired; contact the church office if you'd like pricing information in advance.

Bread for (Garden) Beds

Homemade bread ($10 donation/loaf) is available through Debby Willets.

Choices are Cranberry Orange, Honey Oatmeal, Buttermilk White, and Honey Wheat.

Proceeds help defray costs of our community garden beds.

Youth Fundraiser--Raw Honey

Glass jars of raw, locally-harvested honey are available from JMC Apiary as a fundraiser for our youth groups.

Sizes are sample ($3), 1/2 lb. ($6--$2 goes to our youth), 1 lb. ($12--$3 goes to our youth), 1 qt. ($30--$5 goes to our youth), and 1/2 gal. ($60).

Devotional Booklets

The November/December issue of, "The Upper Room" now is available from the rack near the stairs leading to the sanctuary.

The Advent devotional booklet, "Partners in Prayer" also is available, in the same location.

The January/February issue of, "The Upper Room" will be available in mid-December.

These are provided free of charge by WACC's Christian Education Committee.

Last Transition Team Congregational Gatherings Set

Consecration Day / WACC Thanksgiving Meal

Together We Are a Family

Sunday, November 19

We will present our financial commitments of thanksgiving, for the 2018 year, at both Worship Services (8:30 and 10:45 a.m.).

In addition, we'll receive the Thanksgiving Special Day Offering for Disciples-affiliated colleges and universities.

We'll celebrate with an all-church Thanksgiving meal at noon in Fellowship Hall.

Please bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to share; turkey, dressing and mashed potatoes and gravy will be provided.

(If you'd like to donate--and/or cook--a turkey, please contact Cindy Johnson, another member of the Hospitality Committee, or the church office.)

Please recycle the following items after your meeting or event clean-up at WACC:

Paper (office paper, mail, catalogs, phone books, outer paper boxes from frozen or boxed food, newspapers and inserts, and cardboard [flattened, please]);

Plastic bottles and jugs (no lids);

Milk and juice cartons (no caps or straws);

Cans (steel, tin and aluminum); and,

Glass (bottles and jars [no lids or caps]).

Camp--General Information

2017 Camp/Conference/Retreat Dates (All events take place at Camp Christian--10299 Maple Dell Rd., Marysville, OH--unless otherwise indicated. Early Bird [EB] rate deadline is May 1 unless otherwise noted.)

The following applies to all Camp/Conference weeks occurring at Camp Christian:

A scholarship of 50% of the Early Bird rate is available to all WACC youth who regularly attend Worship, Church School and youth gatherings at WACC.

Completed registration forms and payment are due in to the WACC office TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the start of your selected camp.

Each camper must complete the medical form provided with each registration.

Early Bird Registration (week-long camps only; received by May 1): $385

Regular Registration (week-long camps only; received after May 1): $410

Late/On-Site Registration (week-long camps only; received later than 10 days prior to camp start): $430

Registration forms are posted on our main bulletin board, or you may print your own or register online at www.ccinoh.org/camp/applications.aspx.

Registration includes program costs, lodging and meals while at Camp. Campers may want to bring money for fast-food meals on the way to & from Camp (optional).

What to Bring to Camp: Bible, bedding, modest clothing (clothing that hides front and back cleavage, underwear, and mid-sections), modest swimwear and swimsuit cover, musical instrument or talent show props, offering money, and a small amount of snack money for the week (optional).

What to Leave Home: Electronic devices (personal music devices allowed only at bedtime and must be used with earplugs), drugs, alcohol, guns, knives or other weapons, inappropriate language and attitudes, etc.
