Salvation Army Creed of Excellence
I promise to love and respect myself always.
I will thank God for each day;
I will be proud of who I am;
I will work to become a better person;
I will give love and receive love;
I will choose what is right;
I will be happy and successful;
And I will believe in myself.
The above was written by Dale Jones, Program Director for the Elyria Salvation Army. His responsibilities include a mentorship program for local boys that operates through Elyria High School. At the invitation of Barbara Terrell, Dale joined a recent Outreach Committee Zoom meeting to explain the program. It was a pleasure to meet Dale and learn about the program.
What resonated for me far beyond the actual meeting, though, was the Creed of Excellence that each mentorship applicant must sign. To me, it offers a way to live, always, but especially during these hard pandemic times, which is why I decided to share it with you, dear WACC Family.
Sincerely,
Jane Hutson
