March On!

On Saturday June 18, 2022, we have an invitation to do more than just talk; we have an opportunity to march as participants in the Poor People’s and Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls. We’ll join our feet and voices with neighbors who are marginalized and suffering from poverty, systemic racism, and ecological devastation.

The Poor People’s Campaign was co-founded by Rev. Dr. William J. Barber ll, a Disciples of Christ Pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis. This important initiative is “rooted in a moral analysis based on our deepest religious and constitutional values that demand justice for all. Moral revival is necessary to save the heart and soul of our democracy. We must do MORE to make America live up to her possibilities:

·  MORE to fully address the interlocking injustices of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation and the denial of health care, militarism and the war economy and the false moral narrative of religious nationalism.

·  MORE to change the narrative and build the power of those most impacted by these injustices.

·  MORE to realize a Third Reconstruction agenda that can build this country from the bottom up and realize the nation we have yet to be.

We will do our work in a non-partisan way—no elected officials or candidates get the stage or serve on the State Organizing Committee of the Campaign. This is not about left and right, Democrat or Republican but about right and wrong. The Campaign and all its Participants and Endorsers embrace nonviolence. Violent tactics or actions will not be tolerated.”

Washington Avenue Christian Church has been blessed with an anonymous donation to pay the bus fare for the first 25 people to register for the March! If you are interested in putting your feet on the path and want to ride on the bus, please contact me, Pastor Nathan, or the church office.

March on, WACC!

Blessings in Christ,

Debbie Walker
