A Service of Prayer for the Nation
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Right Rev. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde delivered the Word of God for the people of God at A Service of Prayer for the Nation held at the Washington National Cathedral. Her sermon is prophetic and pastoral excellence. Furthermore, her grace and grit are of equal measure in this powerful proclamation of the gospel in a most complex and complicated context.
Bishop Budde calls for unity, which is often a buzzword in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She nuanced unity in ways that were transforming for all of hear hearers:
- Honor the dignity of every human being
- Speak the truth to one another in love
- Walk humbly with each other and our God
May her courageous call to unity energize us to seek first the future God wants and ultimately will have on behalf of the whole wide world that God so loves.
