August Special Offering: “From Our Doorsteps…”

Since its inception in 2002, you have been faithful contributors to the “From Our Doorsteps…” fund. Your generosity created an endowment with the Christian Church Foundation and created a healthy local balance of funds. We’re glad to report that our endowment remains strong, and we’ve awarded more money in FOD grants than we had cash on hand. This is very good news, but we need your help in replenishing our local balance!

Over the past year, the Outreach Committee funded these “From Our Doorsteps…” grant requests:

  • Rent assistance for a church neighbor whose family experienced tragedy
  • Two grants for school fees so two EHS graduates could obtain their diplomas
  • Financial support for a family whose baby was born three months premature, and the parents’ employment was negatively affected by the pandemic
  • Assistance for funeral costs for a community member killed in a car accident
  • Financial assistance for the family of a local student badly burned in a fire
  • Support for Arlington Heights Christian Church, which was badly damaged by fire
  • Support for the Rev. Allie Lundblad, pastor of Arlington Heights Christian Church

Due to our active year of funding grant requests, the Outreach Committee elected to reinstate the “From Our Doorsteps…” special offering for August 2021. Our hope is that you, our generous partners in congregational outreach, will give generously toward this outreach effort. Through your benevolence, we will continue to assist with the needs of our greater family.

Additionally, if you encounter a community need you feel fitting for “From Our Doorsteps…” consideration, please complete a “From Our Doorsteps…” request. Forms are available through the church office, and you may submit a completed request to Pastor Nathan or the Outreach Committee directly.

As always, the Outreach Committee would like to express its heartfelt gratitude for your continued support of the outreach efforts of WACC. You overwhelmingly embody the spirit of “from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.”
