August Special Offering: From Our Doorsteps Grants

Since our August 2021 cover article in The Spire, the Outreach Committee has continued to encourage and review From Our Doorsteps grant requests. With your generous support from last year’s special offering, we’ve provided financial assistance for the following:

• ceiling repairs due to unexpected damage at Peace Community Church in Oberlin
• preventing gas utility disconnection for a community member
• a family whose house was destroyed in a fire
• the family of a young child hospitalized for an extended period

Additionally, the Outreach Committee spent considerable time discussing the criteria for From Our Doorsteps grants and made improvements to make the grants more accessible. For example, any active participant involved in the life of WACC may submit a request. New forms were created and are available in the church office and narthex; they are bright orange and cannot be missed! Finally, an online version of the form is now available on our church website at: https://www.waccelyria.org/fodgrant.

As always, if you encounter a community need you feel fitting for From Our Doorsteps consideration, please complete a request so the Outreach Committee can review and discuss.

We remain grateful for your support of the From Our Doorsteps grants, which you fund through giving to the August special offering and with designated contributions throughout the year. Thank you for trusting us to use these funds to meet emergent needs from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.
