Welcome, Beth KcKee

Meet Beth McKee, who joined WACC on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Beth was born and reared in Canton, Ohio, and she attended Anderson University, a small private college in Anderson, Indiana. Knowing that a counselor would be available on campus to check in on her and/or guide her influenced Beth’s decision to attend Anderson University. She graduated with a double degree in Religion and Psychology. During our interview, she told us that she learned her alma-mater played Oberlin College last weekend and won! She would have attended but heard about the game too late.

After graduation from Anderson, Beth worked as a Youth Pastor with the Church of God in Anderson. The church was formed mostly from Methodist roots and gives members a lot of freedom in their beliefs. She did similar work in Miami, Florida, and Roanoke, Virginia. After a few years of this work, she was ready to move forward, and she attended Duke University for a master’s degree in theological studies.

Beth decided that Chaplaincy was her goal and attained her CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) after completing the Cleveland Clinic Chaplaincy program. Her first position was as a chaplain at Wesleyan Village in Elyria. Many of us met and appreciated Beth during her 18 years there.

After leaving the Village, she joined Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, which is part of University Hospitals. She will have been there seven years in February.

Beth loves to travel and has visited close to thirty countries. Her favorites include New Zealand, Spain, and the Middle East. She also enjoys the National Parks and has hiked and kayaked in many of them. Beth loves Lake Erie and visiting Ohio parks. She also enjoys reading, writing, and cooking, especially trying recipes from countries she has visited.

Beth became interested in WACC through her friendship with Ron Dauphin, who worked for Wesleyan Village before and during Beth’s years there. She also became acquainted with Pastor Nathan through Ron when they had enjoyed sharing a dinner together.

We welcome Beth and are incredibly happy that she has joined WACC.
